26 Pampanga villages underwater, 598 families evacuated

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO Typhoon Karding left a trail of destruction in Central Luzon with 26 barangays Pampanga underwater and 598 families in evacuation centers as of Monday, September 26.

Reports from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said that some three barangays in Minalin are currently flooded. These include Barangay Santo Domingo, Santa Catalina and Dawe.

Some 13 barangays in Masantol are also flooded with some 10 barangays in Macabebe. The flooding was due to the combined tidal and fluvial waters in the said coastal towns.

Around 598 families have also been brought to evacuation centers in nine municipalities and cities in Pampanga. At least 59 evacuation centers were put up in Flordiblanca, Lubao, Arayat, City of San Fernando, Candaba, Macabebe, Masantol, Minalin, and San Luis. The evacuation centers catered to families in flood-prone areas.

Some 2, 214 persons have been evacuated because of the typhoon. PDRRMO said the evacuated population are part of the total 18,061 families or 69,730 individuals affected by the typhoon all over the province on Sunday.

Affected families came from the City of San Fernando, and towns of Floridablanca, Lubao, Arayat, Candaba, Macabebe, and Masantol. The evacuated families are expected to return to their homes as flooding subsides in their respective areas.

The typhoon had also left several fallen trees that caused traffic along major road networks in the City of San Fernando, Mexico, Bacolor, and Angeles City. Response units of local government units have started clearing operations.

A total of 58 evacuation centers, mostly schools and churches, catered to the displaced families.

A total of 51 barangays in some seven municipalities in the province were also flooded by up to four feet as of yesterday noon.
