PLDT, Smart activate free calls, charging in typhoon hit areas

CLARK FREEPORT PLDT and its wireless unit Smart Communications Inc., (Smart) have activated their free calls and free charging services in areas hit by super typhoon "Karding."

Free calls and free charging stations are up Nueva Ecija - (a) Smartzone Office (formerly Mactal Hardware) 601 Paco Roman St., Bgy. Supermarket, Cabanatuan City; (b) Lazaro Francisco Integrated School Cabanatuan; and (c) Sebenz Loading Station, Maestrang Kikay, Talavera.

In Quezon, at Navarro Minimart, 234 Gen. Luna St. Pob 39, Infanta, and Bonifacio St. Brgy. Poblacion, Polillo.

Help from PLDT-Smart Foundation and MVP Group’s "Tulong Kapatid" are also on their way to affected communities.

Earlier, the telecommunication groups have deployed their North Luzon network team to conduct risk assessment in areas heavily impacted by super typhoon “Karding.”

“Based on the initial assessment of our team, impact of Karding on PLDT and Smart’s network is not as heavy and disruptions reported can be considered minimal. Our command center will continue to monitor the situation,” Cathy Yang, FVP and Group Head for Corporate Communications at PLDT & Smart said.

PLDT and Smart's network have withstood the onslaught of super typhoon Karding. However, customers in some areas may experience service quality issues after some sites were impacted by "Karding."
