A TWO-minute city-wide lockdown will be implemented during a portion of the upcoming simulation exercise (simex) this week, said Task Force Davao (TF-Davao).

“It is just a two-minute lockdown kung saan ti-testingin po natin ang kahandaan ng ating land, sea, and airforce joint security forces (where we will test the readiness of our land, sea, and air security forces) in an event of terror attack in Davao City,” Col. Darren Comia, Commander of TF Davao, said in an interview with Davao City Disaster Radio on September 26, 2022.

Comia said there will be a rerouting of traffic along F. Torres where the simex will be held.

“I-reroute natin yong ibang kalsada (We will reroute the traffic), its because kailangan nating paghandaan ito at ayusin ang ating simulation exercise na malapit sa katotohanan (because we need to prepare and manage the simex similar to how it will unfold if it happens),” Comia said.

Comia said the City Transport and Traffic Management Office Davao City (CTTMO-Davao), Highway Patrol Group (HPG), and Davao City Police Office (DCPO) will assist with the rerouting.

On September 23, 2022, the Davao City Security and Safety cluster announced that they will hold a simulation exercise that involves security crises like grenade throwing, active shooter, and hostage-taking.

According to the Public Safety and Security Command Center (PSSCC) Head PCol. Angel Sumagaysay, the following agencies will join the simulation exercise:Task Force-Davao, Philippine Navy, Philippine Coastguard, Maritime Police, Tactical Operations Group-Davao of the Philippine Air Force, City Transport and Traffic Management Office, 911, National Intelligence Coordinating Agency-Davao, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, Philippine National Police-Crime Laboratory, National Bureau of Investigation, Bureau of Fire Protection, City Social Welfare and Development Office, City Health Office, City Information Office and other supporting agencies.

Meanwhile, Comia encouraged Dabawenyos to support and cooperate during the simex as it contributes to the overall peace, security, and order in Davao City. KSD
