Illegal drug ‘supplier’ nabbed in Sulu town

AUTHORITIES have arrested the wife of an alleged supplier of illegal drugs and allegedly providing support to the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) in Kalingalan Caluang, Sulu, an official said.

Police Major Allan Alog, chief of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Sulu provincial field unit, identified the arrested suspect as Siraina Ahajan alias Elay Jaliluddin, 32, the wife of Basal, Jaliluddin, 32, who eluded arrest.

Alog said that Ahajan was arrested in a law enforcement operation by way of implementation of a search warrant around 4:05 p.m. Saturday, September 24, at Sitio Campahayo in the boundary of Masjid Punjungan amnd Pang villages, Kalingalan Caluang.

Ahajan’s husband, Jaliluddin, eluded arrest as he fled upon sensing the arrival of the police forces to serve the search warrant for illegal possession of firearms and violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Alog said seized from the residence of the couple were two grenades, assorted ammunition, 50 grams of suspected shabu worth P340,000, illegal drug paraphernalia, and P5,390 cash in different denominations.

Alog said that the couple is allegedly the supplier of illegal drugs in Kalingalan Caluang and nearby towns and actively providing support to Omarkan Kaya Jamoil, a member of the Abu Sayyaf Group. (SunStar Zamboanga)
