Village official killed in Isabela City

A VILLAGE official was killed by a lone gunman in Isabela City, Basilan province, Sunday morning, September 25, 2022, the police reported.

Police Major Shellamie Chang, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the slain village official as Kennedy Indal Buhali, 45, a councilor in Tampalan village, Malmawi Island, Isabela City.

Chang said that Buhali was shot dead around 8:10 a.m. Sunday at Strong Boulevard in Port Area village, Isabela City.

Chang said investigation showed that Buhali was standing in front of an eatery of his cousin at Strong Boulevard when a lone unidentified gunman appeared and repeatedly shot the village official in the back.

Chang said that Buhali died instantaneously from multiple gunshot wounds.

She said recovered four empty shells of caliber .45 pistol and two slugs of the same caliber at the crime scene.

She said that investigation continues to determine the motive as well as establish the identity of the suspect, who fled after the incident. (SunStar Zamboanga)
