Consultative conference gathers swine, poultry industry stakeholders in NegOcc

THE Provincial Government of Negros Occidental has conducted a consultative conference with swine and poultry industry stakeholders at the Provincial Capitol’s Social Hall in Bacolod City on Tuesday, September 27, 2022.

Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, Third District Board Member Andrew Montelibano, who chairs the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Committee on Food and Agriculture, Provincial Administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz II, Officer-In-Charge Provincial Veterinarian Placeda Lemana, swine and poultry raisers, game fowl breeders, local government unit (LGU) service providers, and allied industry stakeholders attended the meeting.

The officers of the Negros Occidental Layers Association led by its president Dr. Eugene Arnold Sison also took their oaths of office before the governor.

The conference underscored the updates on bird flu and African Swine Fever (ASF); amended guidelines on the application and renewal of Certificate of Free Status of ASF to facilitate unhampered delivery of healthy swine and safe pork and related commodities to target destinations; and 2023 proposals on Livestock Development Programs and Projects.

Lacson said that the consultative conference is an effective forum for resolving concerns and clarifications the requirements imposed by the Bureau of Animal Industry and Department of Agriculture.

The governor hoped to find more effective ways to uphold the continued prevention and control of ASF and Avian Influenza infection in the province through the activity. (PR)
