TWO persons were arrested while some P580,000 worth of illegal drugs were seized in an anti-drug operation in the province of Lanao del Sur, the police reported Wednesday, September 28, 2022.
Police Colonel Richard Verceles, operations chief of the Area Police Command-Western Mindanao, identified the arrested persons as Amir Abdula alias Michael, 42, and Abdul Mundayaw, 66, both of Cawayan village, Marantao, Lanao del Sur.
Verceles said the two were arrested in a buy-bust operation around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 27, in Palao village, Marantao.
He said the operating team seized from the two were some P580,000 worth of suspected shabu, a motorcycle, and P300,000 boodle money topped with one genuine P1,000 as marked money.
He said the suspects were detained while appropriate charges has been set to be filed against them.
Police Brigadier General John Guyguyon, Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region director, commended the joint police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency team for their relentless efforts that resulted in the arrest of the two suspects and confiscation of P580,000 worth of illegal drugs.
Guyguyon said they will continue to coordinate, collaborate and communicate with other law enforcement units, as well as community to curb illegal drug trade and illicit activities in the region. (SunStar Zamboanga)
