SEVERAL public utility buses that pass through Talisay City are overloaded, especially during rush hour.

Jonathan Tumulak, head of the City of Talisay Traffic Operation Development Authority (CT-Toda) shared this observation on Wednesday, September 28, 2022.

Tumulak said this has been happening since face-to-face classes resumed in August.

However, he said his office has tolerated the practice since their priority is to manage the traffic, which has worsened since the city was placed under Alert Level 1.

A local government unit under an Alert Level 1 status has 70 percent of its total eligible population and 70 percent of its senior citizens fully vaccinated against coronavirus disease 2019.

Tumulak added that modern public utility jeepneys that ply city roads from Barangay Poblacion to the I.T. Park in Cebu City are sometimes overloaded, but usually only during rush hour.

If there is no overloading, that means there are enough public utility vehicles operating in the city, he said. (BBT, PJB)
