Kenneth Sai elected interim president of Davao track group

VETERAN running events and sports organizer Kenneth Sai was elected as interim president of the Davao City Track and Field Association in a face-to-face Philippine Athletics Track and Field Association (Patafa) meeting at The Royal Mandaya Hotel on Tuesday afternoon, September 27.

Patafa executive vice president and regional director Guillermo "Willie" Torres Jr., whose University of Mindanao's (UM's) rubberized track oval hosted several regional and national competitions including the Palarong Pambansa in the past, was in attendance.

Aside from Sai, known for organizing the Milo Marathon Davao qualifying series and Color Manila Run events here, also elected were University of Southeastern Philippines (Usep) sports director Jose Alther Rivera as interim vice president; former athlete and OFW advocate Jhay Acedo as secretary-general; Doña Carmen Denia National High School coach Ramil Torregosa as treasurer; veteran national coach and ultra-marathon organizer Roel Ano as PIO; and seasoned coach/technical official Emilio "Toto" Lacanaria as director.

Sai, in a Facebook interview with SunStar Davao, said: "This is just an interim body. Among i-process ang papers and accreditation sa Patafa then mag-general assembly mi para mag elect of new set of officers (We will process the papers and accreditation with Patafa then we will hold a general assembly to elect a new set of officers)."

He said that they aim to hold an election in November.

Members of the association are coaches, former national athletes, sports coordinators, and sports organizers. MLSA
