THE Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board in Davao Region (LTFRB-Davao) said the fuel price increase is one of the reasons why they are implementing a fare hike starting October 3, 2022.

“In rendering the said decision, the board is mindful of the present economic situation brought about by a variety of processes which are both domestic and international,” Legal Officer of LTFRB, Atty. Ernest Benz Davila said during a virtual press conference on September 30, 2022.

He said other reasons for the fare hike are the increasing operating costs of public utility vehicle (PUV) and public utility jeepney (PUJ) operators.

The fare hike was also based on the studies conducted by the National Economic and Development Authority and LTFRB. They also based their decisions on the feedback of commuters.

LTFRB said that for traditional public utility jeepneys (TPUJ), from P11 the new adjusted base fare is now P12 and an additional P1.80 for succeeding kilometers. The modern public utility jeepneys (MPUJ) adjusted the fare from P13 to the new base fare of P14 and an additional P2.20 per kilometer.

Earlier, LTFRB said the fare hike has a nine percent increase for the base fare and a 20 percent per kilometer for TPUJ. Also, LTFRB said that for the MPUJ, there’s an eight percent increase for the base fare and a 22 percent increase every kilometer.

Meanwhile, for the public utility buses (PUB), the regular city PUB’s base fare is P13 from P11 with an additional P2.25 per kilometer, which is an 18 percent increase from the previous base fare.

While the air-conditioned city PUB’s adjusted base fare is now P15, an increase of 15 percent, and has a P2.65 additional for succeeding kilometers.

The regular provincial PUB increased the base fare to P11 from P9 and an additional P1.9 rate per kilometer. LTRB also said that the taxi services' base fare is now from P40 to P45. KSD
