NOT a single arrest was made on the first day of the dry run of Oplan Disiplina on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022, the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) said.

According Lieutenant Colonel Wilbert Parilla, deputy director for administration of the CCPO, they merely warned violators.

He said they cautioned many people against smoking, spitting, going out shirtless and committing traffic violations, among others, while on patrol in different barangays in the morning.

He said personnel of the Cebu City Traffic Office; Prevention, Restoration, Order, Beautification and Enhancement; Cebu Environmental Sanitation and Enforcement Team; Bureau of Fire Protection; and the CCPO would continue to conduct an information drive about Oplan Disiplina in the different barangays at night.

Parilla said the next time they go out on patrol, they will apprehend violators and issue citation tickets that will have corresponding penalties, depending on the offense.

“Sa sunod dakop na gyud (Next time, we will already arrest offenders),” he said,

Vehicles that are illegally parked overnight will also be clamped right away, he said.

The Oplan Disiplina has set its focus on the indiscriminate throwing of garbage, which has been blamed for the flooding that occurs during downpours.

However, Parilla earlier admitted that garbage violators are difficult to catch in the act.
