Kapin sa 100,000 ka mga nurse ug uban pang mga healthcare workers (HCWs) ang gikinahanglan karon sa nasud, sumala sa Department of Health (DOH).
Sa press conference niadtong Huwebes, Septiyembre 29, 2022, si DOH Officer-in-Charge Maria Rosario Vergeire niingon nga ang nasud nag-atubang karon sa kakuwang sa mga healthcare workers.
“We have a shortage or gap of 106,000. Nurses that are needed to man our facilities all over the country, both public and private,” matod ni Vergeire.
“If you talk about shortage in healthcare workers, we have a huge shortage,” siya nidugang.
Si Vergeire niingon nga ang kakuwang sa manpower anaa usab sa mga doktor, pharmacist, radiologic technologist, medical technician, occupational therapist, midwives, physical therapist ug dentista.
Iyang namatikdan nga sa mga tambalanan sa DOH lang, adunay panginahanglan sa 624 ka mga nurse, 1,332 ka midwife, ug 63 ka mga dentista, diin ang tanan mga plantilla government positions.
Matod sa opisyal sa DOH, ang kakuwang sa mga healthcare worker maingon tungod sa padayon nga paglangyaw sa mga medical professional.
“One of the main reasons why we have this shortage is because of the migration of healthcare workers,” matod ni Vergeire.
Si Vergeire nagkanayon nga ang DOH padayon nga supak sa pagpataas sa deployment cap nga gitakda sa Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) alang sa mga healthcare worker taliwala sa coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic.
Ang tinuig nga deployment cap sa pagkakaron anaa sa 7,000 ka healthcare workers.
“If we are to be asked, we would like to maintain this cap. We wouldn’t want an increase in the number of HCWs to be sent abroad,” matod ni Vergeire.
