TROOPS have recovered propaganda materials and personal belongings of the New People’s Army (NPA) rebels in the hinterlands of Zamboanga del Norte, the military reported.

Lieutenant General Alfredo Rosario Jr., commander of the Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom), said the propaganda materials and personal belongings were recovered following a clash Thursday, September 29, in Balok village, Katipunan, Zamboanga del Norte.

Rosario said the troops of the 97th and 42nd Infantry Battalions were on a security mission when they clashed with some 10 NPA rebels in Balok village.

“While scouring the encounter site, operating troops recovered enemy propaganda materials and personal belongings. Blood stains were also visible in the area,” Rosario said.

He said the operating troops continue to pursue the fleeing enemies.

“Troops sustain the conduct of security operations in the province. They are continuously targeting the remaining strongholds of the enemies of the state,” he said.

“As much as we want to end conflicts peacefully, we will continue to intensify our operations against those who remain indoctrinated with false ideologies,” he added. (SunStar Zamboanga)
