TWO persons were killed when their motorcycle encountered an accident at the North Reclamation Area in Barangay Mabolo, Cebu City on Saturday night, October 1, 2022.

Driver Reneir Paparacio, a 23-year-old resident of Sitio Suran, Barangay Quiot, died on the spot, while his passenger Janice Mae Respeto Jaspe, 34, died several hours later in the hospital.

Corporal Rosaleo Lauron, traffic investigator of the Mabolo Police Station, said Paparacio was trying to beat the red light at the corner of Juan Luna Avenue and Serging Osmeña Boulevard but failed.

"Kusog ang ilang dagan kay giapas ang green nga light apan naabtan gyud sa stop ni break ning si Paparacio mao to nga na outbalance ug ming igo sa island sa tunga sa dalan mao to nga nangalagpot ang duha. Buak ang ulo aning drayber. Substandard pa gyud ang helmet nga gamit (The driver was driving very fast because when he applied the brakes at the stop sign, he lost control of the motorcycle and they slammed into the island. They were both thrown off the motorcycle. Paparacio, who was wearing a substandard helmet, cracked his skull)," Lauron said.

The victims were reportedly headed for Mandaue City.
