PB bats for health ordinance for Pampanga's vulnerable sector

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO The Pampanga Provincial Board hosted a series of meetings with barangay, town councilors and mayors in a bid to institutionalize an ordinance that will cater to the health needs of the vulnerable sectors in Pampanga.

The proposed ordinance aims to institutionalize the Provincial Integration of Universal Health Care Law which provides that a province-wide health system, through the Provincial Health Office, for the delivery of the promotive, preventive, curative, rehabilitative, and palliative components of health care within the province. The province-wide health system shall link at least one apex or end-referral hospital.

During a meeting with town and city mayors, Vice Governor Lilia Pineda had asked mayors to help the province with the data banking of all possible health beneficiaries in Pampanga. The vice governor said that the province will be able to cater to more indigents through a grassroots system that will enable easy access to services.

The ordinance is set to be deliberated in the Provincial Board soon after the committee deliberations. The ordinance aims to bring a more united and institutionalized approach in the delivery of basic health care services to Kapampangans.
