THERE has been enhanced engagement of Indian agri-businesses in the 24th edition of Davao Agri Trade Expo, the flagship agribusiness event in Mindanao.

This year, the event has scaled up to become an international event, in true sense, with the participation of Indian companies along with other foreign companies from Israel, Austria, and others.

H.E. Shambhu S Kumaran, Ambassador of India to the Philippines conveyed in his message that India and Philippines share a historical relationship spanning several centuries. Today, as young and dynamic democracies, we are moving forward to build a people-centered partnership with focus on key development sectors such as agriculture, health, finance, and digital economy. Ambassador Kumaran further said that participation of Indian companies in Davao Agri Trade Expo will help in sharing Indian experiences with Filipino friends and help in building new linkages for mutual benefit.

Mr. Nishikant Singh, First Secretary (Economic and Commerce) from the Embassy of India, said during the plenary session of the event that the participation of Indian companies in the expo is across the spectrum of agricultural value chains, with products and innovative solutions, by setting up their pavilions and exhibition booths in the trade expo. These included Indian businesses in agri-logistics (Jiyo Pumps); agritech (iEminence); agro-chemicals (Indofil and UPL); agro-processing (AgriExim) and dairy products (Shubham Foods).

While Jiyo Pumps attracted the attention of participants in the expo with their innovative solutions for smart agriculture such as efficient irrigation pumps, Indian IT service provider iEminence offered IT solutions for efficient management of forward and backward linkages in the agri-value chain.

The participants in the Expo were found actively engaged with the exhibition booth of Indian agro-chemical companies, wherein UPL showcased its leading herbicides and biosolution products, while Indofil engaged the audiences with their fungicides and biostimulants, which are already quite popular for high-value export-oriented plantation crops such as banana and pineapple.

In the agro-processing sector, AgriExim shared its success story of value addition for the processing of coconuts at its establishment in Davao del Sur. To showcase the strength and competitive pricing of Indian dairy products, an Indian company (Shubham Foods) traveled all the way from India to set up their exhibition booth at the Expo. India is the largest producer of milk in the world.

Active participation of Indian companies in the Davao Agri Trade Expo, stands as a testimony to growing engagement between Indian businesses and the Davao Region. Earlier, on February 18, 2022, India Business Roadshow was held in Davao City in partnership with the Davao City Administration, Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc, Davao City Investment Promotion Center, and India Business Forum.
