Residents of coastal barangays get aid

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO Residents along the Pampanga Riverbanks recently received assistance from the provincial government.

The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office reported on Monday that a total of 8,042 coastal folks from Macabebe and Minalin got food packs and cash assistance from the province.

More than 5,000 of the beneficiaries are from Barangay Consuelo, San Esteban and Dalayap in Macabebe.

The remaining 3,000 recipients are from Barangay Bulac, Maniango, Saplad and Dawe in Minalin.

The coastal areas in Pampanga are among the most affected places by the aftermath of typhoon “Karding.”

The typhoon battered Luzon for more than a week now, but the said areas are still submerged of up to five feet of floodwaters.

This is caused by rains and floodwater from the upstream part of the region flowing down the Pampanga River and communities along the water channel.
