THE Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) has sent police officers to Sitio San Miguel, Barangay Apas to secure the area pending the issuance of a demolition order from the court.

According to CCPO Director Colonel Ireneo Dalogdog, the police officers are there for police visibility and not because of a court order.

He clarified that once the court issued the order, the men and women stationed in the area would be pulled out and be replaced by police officers from the Police Regional Office in Central Visayas.

“We just wanted police visibility in the area. Actually, the writ of demolition has yet to be implemented in Barangay Apas. Once there’s an order, we will create a team to provide security in the area,” Dalogdog said in a mix of Cebuano and English.

He said they wanted to prevent trouble between members of the demolition team and affected families living in a property owned by one family.

He said members of the homeowners’ association had applied for a temporary restraining order. (AYB, PJB)
