Leonardia: Political will with performance

BACOLOD City Representative Evelio Leonardia underscored the importance of political will and performance in serving the people as he highlighted the P5 billion worth of projects he facilitated for Bacolod in the past two years.

“I believe political will should be complemented with performance in order to promote a better future for your constituents,” he said in his State of the District Report held yesterday at the Garden Royale of Goldenfield Commercial Complex.

During the gathering, Leonardia -- who is in his first term as congressman -- said that from June 2013 to June 2015, he has facilitated a total of P5.68 billion in projects for Bacolod.

Of this amount, P2.38 billion in public works have been implemented or are currently being constructed. These include P1.5 billion by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), P355 million by the Department of Tourism-DPWH Convergence Fund, P171 million by the Road Board, P131 million by Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation, P136 million by the Department of Education and P85 million by the Department of Agriculture.

The remaining P3.3 billion represents the public works that Leonardia is currently facilitating with the different agencies.

He added that among his big projects are the 156 classrooms scattered around public schools in the city amounting to P268 million, tourism roads worth P355 million, the 23-kilometer road improvement from Burgos Extension to Bredco and from Lacson Street to Mount Mandalagan (Campuestohan) worth P305 million, various projects of DPWH like flyover, road widening and flood control program amounting to P1.38 billion and the 21-kilometer Bacolod Economic Highway worth P790 million.

Leonardia said he has also filed 57 House Bills, some of which already have counterpart bills in the Senate.

The councilor said he has not yet received any formal invitation from the congressman’s camp.
