POLICEMEN have arrested three persons and seized some P8.1 million worth of contrabands in the province of Zamboanga del Sur, a top police official said Wednesday, October 5, 2022.
Police Brigadier General Neil AlinsaƱgan, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula director, identified those arrested during the anti-smuggling operation as Shariff Adjinulla de Jesus, Adrian Adjinulla de Jesus and Lauro Ocampo Gonzales.
Alinsangan said they were arrested around 6 p.m. Tuesday, October 4, in Boyugan West village, Kumalarang, Zamboanga del Sur.
Alinsangan said the police were manning a checkpoint when they flagged down a delivery van driven by Shariff that was found to be loaded with contrabands consisting of cigarettes.
He said seized were 215 master cases of untaxed and undocumented cigarettes with an estimated value of P8,170,000.
He said the three arrested persons, vehicle and confiscated cigarettes were placed under the temporary custody of Kumalarang Municipal Police Station. (SunStar Zamboanga)
