DAVAO City Police Office (DCPO) said the two police personnel who have an alleged robbery case will face an administrative case and are now under investigation.

“Definitely, dili nato gina-tolerate ang ingon ana nga aksyon sa atoang mga kauban na mga pulis (we are not tolerating this type of action from our colleagues),” Police Major Catherine Dela Rey, DCPO spokesperson, said during the AFP-PNP Press Conference on October 5, 2022.

Dela Rey said that the action of the alleged personnel namely Police Chief Master Sergeant (PCMS) Renante Medina of Foot Patrol and Bike Unit and Police Master Sergeant (PMSg) Christopher Ararao of Bunawan Police Office is a “personal activity.”

“Ang katong ilahang gihimo personal to nila nga activity and dili to in relation sa DCPO, kay ang atoang City Director, PCol. Alberto Lupaz, wala nagkulang og remind sa tanang kapulisan nga on or off duty dapat kami magpadayon nga responsable diha sa amoang mga actions labi na kami kay mga law enforcers (What they have done was a personal activity and not related to DCPO, our City Director have always reminded us that whether we are on or off duty, we should be responsible of our actions, especially that we are law enforcers),” Dela Rey said.

Dela Rey said that DCPO already sent a team to investigate the allegation in General Santos City, while the Police Regional Office-Davao Region (PRO-Davao) released a statement on October 5, 2022, that the involved personnel was immediately given a relief order.

“In this regard; Pbgen Benjamin H Silo Jr, regional director, PRO-Davao, immediately ordered for the relief of the said personnel including their immediate supervisor and commander... Meantime, subject personnel [is] on automatic leave of absence,” PRO-Davao said in a statement.

Aside from the alleged robbery case, the involved personnel also reportedly violated RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act in Brgy. San Jose General Santos City.

Meanwhile, Dela Rey appealed to the public to not generalize all policemen.

“Ang kuan [request] lang pud namo sa katawhan nga ayaw ninyo i-generalize nga ana gyud ang mga pulis kay pipila lang na sila ang nagahimo og mga dili maayo, mas daghan ang nahimong maayo sa mga kapulisan sa atoang community ug mas daghan pud mi og natabangan kaysa katong mga nagbinuang nga mga PNP member (We ask the public to please not generalize us. There are only a few policemen who are violating the law but there are also cops that have done good things for our communities. We have helped so many people compared to scalawag policemen),” Dela Rey said. KSD
