TWO Lapu-Lapu City officials believed that President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has so far been doing the “right job.”

City Councilor Marciano Alforque Jr. told SunStar Cebu Friday, October 7, 2022, that he has a feeling that Marcos can bring back the economy in the country.

“I believe President is doing the right job on his first 100 days. The thing that I like him is his foreign policy as stated during UN meeting. I got the feeling that he can bring back our economy to be strong and healthy,” said Alforque.

City Councilor Annabeth Cuizon, for her part, said Marcos has done a good job in his first 100 days in office, stressing his administration has responded to the needs of the Oponganons.

Cuizon noted the national government’s speedy help to the 4,000 retrenched workers of the Mactan Economic Zone (MEZ), wherein a resolution that she authored requesting for help was immediately acted upon through the provision of cash and food assistance.

“I was really surprised at how the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) picked up our resolution without delay,” she said, stressing that Undersecretary for Inclusive and Sustainable Peace Alan Tanjusay came all the way from Manila to lead in extending the needed help.

The councilor said Tanjusay told them that it was a personal instruction of the President that the retrenched workers be given assistance.

“We are therefore very grateful for his personal concern and wish his administration with nothing but the best in the next six years,” said Cuizon.

Mayor Junard Chan was not available for comment Friday, October 7, while Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes has not issued yet a statement on the matter. (MKG)
