OVERNIGHT stay at cemeteries for the upcoming Undas is still not allowed despite the city being under the least restrictive Alert Level 1, said the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) on Friday, October 7.

During an interview with the Davao City disaster Radio, DCPO spokesperson PMaj. Catherine Dela Rey said they will maintain the strict protocols for the Undas period, from October 30 to November 3.

The city will also prohibit staying or loitering inside the cemeteries until late at night as the cemeteries are open between 6:00 am to 8:00 pm only.

However, the public can visit the cemeteries all at the same time unlike the previous Undas during the height of the Covid-19 restrictions wherein visits were monitored and allowed only per batch.

“I-maintain gihapon nato ang (We will still maintain the) minimum public health standards,” Dela Rey said.

Aside from the security cluster, the Davao City Covid-19 Task Force has also started to plan initial health and safety measures for the Undas which include setting up health tents or stations to monitor visitors.

If an individual manifested Covid-19 symptoms, Schlosser said they may not be allowed to enter the premises of the cemetery.

At the same time, Dela Rey said approximately 300 police or auxiliary personnel will be deployed for the Undas, covering the 37 cemeteries in the city.

During this time, pointed objects, backpacks, and liquors are prohibited from the venue for security purposes.

“Nagpaabot pa ta sa (We are waiting for the) overall protocol to be released by the Public Safety and Security Command Center (PSSCC),” Dela Rey said. ICM
