THE Cagayan de Oro City Government broke ground for the construction of the 5-storey building of the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Department's (CDRRMD's) Disaster Coordination Center in Zone 8, Barangay Carmen, this city.
CDRRMD Department Manager Nick Jabagat said the CDRRMD Disaster Coordination Center will consist of the Bureau of Fire Protection and Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo) substation on the ground floor; admin and training, planning and research, and operations and monitoring offices on the second floor; fitness room and mess room for responder workers on the third floor; disaster coordination center, joint information center, and conference room for press briefing on the fourth floor; and executive offices on the fifth floor.
Jabagat further said the construction of the said building is phase 1 of the 1.8-hectare Disaster Resilience Complex, which will sit at the government-owned lot in Barangay Carmen.
"Walay laing lugar nga safety kaayo. Dinhi ra gyud nahimutan sa Barangay Carmen nga ibabaw sa tanan nga layo sa mga baha," City Mayor Rolando "Klarex" Uy said.
The city mayor said they will start the construction of the 5-storey CDRRMD Disaster Coordination Center before the year ends in preparation for possible calamities as well as to provide to areas near Cagayan de Oro.
"Ang importante nga duna tay pangandam sa tanang mga kalamidad nga mahitabo sa atong dakbayan ug labaw sa tanan, makatabang usab kita sa ubang mga lugar nga gapangayo tabang sa atong buhatan," Uy said.
