Witty and with good moral character men compete at Ginoong Bacolod 2022

“A MAN with good moral character and witty.”

These are the qualities event organizer Rudy Robles said they are looking for in choosing the top winners for Ginoong Bacolod 2022.

Robles said it is not enough that one is just good looking, he should also have the charm.

“Holding this event after two years of hiatus is quite challenging,” he said.

Unlike other pageants, Ginoong Bacolod wants to uplift the imahe of Bacoleño men being among the pioneers of male pageantry in the highly urbanized city, Robles explained.

This year, 12 men will vie for the title at pageant night to be held at Carlos Hilado Memorial State University Gymnasium, Fortune Towne Campus, Barangay Estefania in Bacolod City at 8 p.m. on October 16.

Robles noted that there are three titles at stake, including Ginoong Bacolod Masskara, as well as Ginoong Bacolod Inter-Continental and Ginoong Bacolod Eco-Tourism.

Aside from the main titles, first and second runners-up will also be awarded.

Special awards will also be presented, which include best in production number, best in mardigras costume, best in summer strip, best in talent, best in trunkini and best in modern barong.

Corporate awards will also be given during the pageant night, the event organizer said.

Contestants went though a series of auditions, screenings, and final deliberations conducted by RD Robles Production and Entertainment Services Inc.

The 12 candidates are Christian Bongaitan, 18, electrical installation and maintenance, Holy Family; John Rey Gargar, 23, Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management, La Consolacion College-Bacolod; Marc Anthony Anatan, 23, BS Physical Education, La Carlota City College and Dominic John Lopez, 22, BS Mechanical Engineering, Colegio San Agustin-Bacolod;

Other contestants are Jerred Demegillo, 21, Aircraft Mechanics, Asian College of Aeronautics; Jovan Tandog, 20, BS Information System, Bacolod City College; Nikole Angelo Villacura, 21, Culinary Arts, University of St. La Salle and Mark Omosura, 21, Senior High School, Taguig National High School.

Completing the list of contestants are Rommel Guanzon, 24, BS Hospitality Management, STI-West Negros University; Risel Mendoza, 18, BS Information Technology, CHMSU-Talisay; Gabriel Belmis, 19, Senior HS, VMA Global College; and Vinchie Fuerte, 18, SHS, VMA Global College.

The talent competition will be held at 8 p.m. on October 15 at CHMSU Gymnasium, Fortune Towne Campus in Barangay Estefania.

The competition is part of the 43rd MassKara Festival celebration that opened on October 1.
