35-year-old mason hurt in Talisay stabbing

A 35-YEAR-OLD mason was hurt after he was stabbed by a construction worker in Barangay San Roque, Talisay City, Cebu Sunday, October 9, 2022.

Police identified the victim as Johnnyboy Villarin Nopal, 35, a mason and resident of Quezon City but is temporarily residing in Laray San Roque, Barangay San Roque, Talisay City, Cebu.

The suspect was Bien Carlo Dublin, 28, a resident of Montalban, Rizal but is also residing in Barangay San Roque, Talisay City.

The Talisay City police, in a spot report, stated that the stabbing incident happened around 6 a.m. Sunday, October 9.

Police received the report around 7:30 a.m. that when the responders arrived in the area, the victim was already in a hospital.

Initial investigation revealed that around 7 p.m. of October 8, Nopal was playing the online game Mobile Legends while Dublin was having a drinking spree with a friend. Dublin suddenly got angry and an argument ensued between him and Nopal.

Around 5:50 a.m. of October 9, the victim and the suspect had a fist fight.

After the fight, the suspect went to the barracks and when he returned, he was already holding a metal weapon. He approached the victim and stabbed him several times.

Police have launched a pursuit operation against Dublin, who fled after the incident. (LMY)
