THE heavy downpour in Davao City last Wednesday, October 5, did not hamper the success of the one-of-a-kind party-cum-gathering in town when Stre3ts Urban Lifestyle Pub brought sneaker and streetwear resellers and exhibitors together in one event, Sneak Stre3ts.

Sneak Stre3ts brought to the city various famous brands of shoes and streetwear for Dabawenyos to appreciate and/ or buy.

Kristoffer Ang of Stre3ts Urban Lifestyle Pub, one of the longest-operating bars/pubs in the metro, said Sneak Stre3ts aims to grow the community and introduce the sneaker and streetwear culture to more Dabawenyos.

"The merchants/ exhibitors are mostly starting young entrepreneurs of Davao and this event will greatly boost their exposure in both the local and national streetwear market. The highlight of the event is the local sneaker and streetwear resellers showcasing their brand and products. Most sought-after shoes will be displayed for appreciation or even for sale," Ang said.

Nikko, one of the founders of GetNice - among the exhibitors during the event, said it was his first time to fly to Davao City and support such activity to promote the exhibition and reselling of genuine and authenticated products, such as sneakers and streetwear.

"I am, in fact, surprised to discover that sneaker culture in Davao City has grown and I am very happy to be part of this event," Nikko said.

GetNice is an online shop platform integrating resale market, sneaker legit-check, sneaker news, and sneakerhead daily sharing.

Meriah Alagao of Purple Cow, another exhibitor and among the distributors of Nike in Mindanao, said the event helps resellers to sell genuine brands of shoes in Davao City.

"Kasi Davao City can hardly get the best and latest, say for example Jordan Air by Nike, and this event helps us to introduce or announce that we are here offering the latest trend not only sneakers but streetwear as well," Alagao, who is the marketing officer of Purple Cow, said.

Meanwhile, sneakerhead or sneaker enthusiast Jerry Ponce complimented the organizer and the event itself because, for him, no event caters to sneaker lovers before.

"Maka-happy siya kay nakapatapok siya sa mga sneakerhead diri sa Davao City, and lami kaayo sa feeling nga makakita ka'g rare genuine pairs of shoes, as in personal nimo makita, unlike anang nagtan-aw raka's youtube, diri gyud nimo makita ang actual nga pairs nga sa video ra nimo nangakita (It makes us sneakerheads happy to gather in one place in Davao City and it's very nice to feel that you can actually see rare genuine pairs of shoes, unlike when you only see them on youtube. This event makes you see pairs of shoes that you've only seen on videos)," Ponce said, adding that he hopes to see another of this event in the future.

The event also treated participants and guests to party beats of Davao City's top DJs such as Torch Gacuma, Wacky Masbad, Sam Rodriguez, and DJ Ryota. There were also raffle draws and games, aside from freebies, gift vouchers, merch, and giveaways.

"We had a bit of a challenge when the rain poured but luckily it stopped. The event was a huge success, (I) got positive feedback both from the exhibitors and guests with their experience. All were very happy that finally there is a sneaker event here in Davao," Ang said, as he looks forward to another event in the future.

"Overall the exhibitors got their exposure and were able to showcase their brand. The event also was getting a great traction on social media because almost everyone shared their experience," Ang ended. CEA
