Todd faces Rodrigues for ONE atomweight Muay Thai belt in Manila

AMERICAN kickboxing star Janet Todd attempts to unify the ONE atomweight Muay Thai belt against Brazilian standout Allycia Hellen Rodrigues in ONE on Prime Video 5 on Dec. 3, 2022 (PH time) at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

The 36-year-old Todd is currently the interim ONE atomweight Muay Thai champion and the ONE atomweight kickboxing champion. She hopes to become the regular Muay Thai champion by beating Rodrigues.

Todd made her ONE Championship debut on Feb. 22, 2019, wherein she fought Thai star Stamp Fairtex for the ONE atomweight Muay Thai title in Singapore. Todd lost to Fairtex via unanimous decision.

Todd, however, would bounce back and win three straight fights in 2019, defeating Wang Chin Long, Kai Ting Chuang and Ekaterina Vandaryeva to earn a shot at Fairtex, this time for the ONE Atomweight kickboxing belt.

Todd avenged her loss to Fairtex and beat her by a split decision to win the belt in their rematch on Feb. 28, 2020.

Todd then won both of her fights in 2021 against Alma Juniku and Anne Line Hogstad, which led to a fight with Lara Fernandez for the interim ONE atomweight Muay Thai strap.

Todd outclassed Fernandez and defeated her by a unanimous decision last July 22 in Singapore.

Meanwhile, the 24-year-old Rodrigues started a career in Muay Thai in Brazil before she moved to Thailand and compete there. She caught the eye of ONE Championship after beating Thai star Thananchanok Kaewsamrit to win the Ayutthaya “Pink Belt” title in 2019. She was signed by ONE Championship and immediately earned a title shot against Fairtex for the ONE atomweight Muay Thai strap.

Rodrigues yet again scored a huge upset and defeated Fairtex via a split decision.

Todd has a combined Muay Thai and kickboxing record of 39-11, while Rodrigues is 31-5.

Also scheduled on ONE on Prime Video 5 is an MMA match between Croatian star Roberto Soldic and unbeaten Russian prospect Murad Ramazanov.

Soldic is considered one of the biggest names in European MMA after winning five championship belts in five different European MMA organizations. He’ll be making his ONE debut.

Ramazanov already fought in the ONE Championship cage three times and beat the likes of Myung Ho Bae, Hiroyuki Tetsuka and Zebastian Kadestam.

Soldic is 20-3, while Ramazanov is 11-0.

The ONE on Prime Video 5 event will be followed by ONE 164, which is headlined by a title defense of ONE strawweight king Joshua Pacio (20-3) against No. 1 contender Jarred Brooks (18-2).
