‘Tabak’ names new chiefs for logistics, operations

THE Army’s 1st Infantry “Tabak” Division (ID) has installed two senior officers to lead two of its key offices in a joint change of chief of office ceremony Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at the Camp Major Cesar Sang-an in Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur.

Installed as the new chief of the Office of the Assistant Chief of Staff for Logistics is Lieutenant Colonel Jofrey Asuncion while Colonel Jessie Montoya as the new head of the Office of the Assistant Chief of Staff for Operation.

Asuncion and Montoya are newly assigned officers with the 1ID as they just reported to the command Monday, October 10.

Brigadier General Antonio Nafarrete, 1ID commander, presided over the change of office ceremony.

Nafarrete said that Asuncion took over the position from Major Mariadita Ruizal, the outgoing Acting Assistant Chief of Staff for Logistics, while Montoya assumed as the new Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations, replacing Colonel Edgar Allan Villanueva.

Villanueva is set to be assigned as the commanding officer of the Division CAFGU Affairs Unit (DCAU).

Asuncion also pledged to continue contributing to the unit's objective with steadfast dedication and commitment.

In his remarks, Asuncion said that his new role is a huge challenge, especially since he must remain engaged with what his successor has accomplished.

Montoya said that his appointment as Division Operation Staff Officer introduces him with a new challenge and a huge responsibility.

He promised the 1ID command that he would get along well with the other members of Team Tabak.

Meanwhile, Nafarrete congratulated the newly assigned chief of logistics and operations.

He also thanked the two outgoing officers for their unwavering support in all 1ID initiatives, as well as their dedication in obediently following and accomplishing what is requested of them.

The outgoing assistant chief of staffs for operations and logistics were given a plaque of recognition for their invaluable service rendered in a position of major responsibility as staff officers. (SunStar Zamboanga)
