TWO people were arrested while some P385,000 worth of smuggled cigarettes were seized in an anti-smuggling operation in an east coast village of Zamboanga City, the police reported Tuesday, October 11, 2022.

Police Colonel Richard Verceles, operations chief of the Area Police Command-Western Mindanao, identified the arrested persons as Marbin Bara Majindi 33, and Jumine Bara Majindi, 30, both residents of Campo Islam village.

Verceles said they were arrested when policemen manning a checkpoint flagged down a Sports Utility Vehicle found to be loaded with smuggled cigarettes around 1 a.m. Tuesday, October 11, in Curuan village.

Verceles said no one among them were able to present documents of the cigarettes, thus, they were arrested and their cargo confiscated as well the vehicle was impounded.
