In-house catering brings forth new dining experience to Cebu

Cebuanos are notorious foodies. There is a constant flux of new and unique food places that go viral almost every week on social media pages.

This proves just how much we, Cebuanos, are craving for a unique dining experience that transcends more than just the food itself. The place, setup and a matter of convenience is also a factor.

At Mom & Sons’ Café, all of these boxes are checked out.

Cathy Ngo, the founder and owner of the cafe, explained that the concept of an in-house catering service is not at all a new hit. A prolific number of businesses in Metro Manila has practiced this type of service.

However in Cebu, Mom & Sons’ Café is one of the first establishments to offer this unique dining experience. Mom & Sons’ Café mainly operates from Ngo’s household.

“My children and I are such homebodies that we thought, why not run our business from home?”

The in-house catering service specializes in themed parties. Aside from Ngo’s love for cooking and baking, she also prides herself with her knack for designing spaces. “Whatever our clients desire, we can make it happen. I find it really joyous to decorate my own home frequently.”

Ngo admits that she doesn’t go by the book when coming up with recipes. She just comes up with the dish on the fly.

“Most people call me the ‘self-made’ chef. Sometimes, in the middle of the night, I would suddenly develop a recipe out of nowhere and would immediately work on it the following day. I guess it stems from my love for food ever since I was a kid.”

She also shares how she came up with the name of the business.

“Since it is a collaborative business between my sons and I, I think it truly encapsulates our bond.”

Mom & Sons’ Café offers a varied selection of cuisines from Filipino, Japanese, Korean, French, among others. Its specialty and sought-after menu item is the Lechon Belly, a tender and savory boneless variation of the traditional Lechon de Cebu.

Another one of the catering service’s specialties is its Durian Cake, which was featured on national television in 2021. It is a delectable and tasty treat perfect for the sweet-toothed foodies out there.

Ngo also creates other specialty cakes: Avocado Mango Cake, Strawberry Cake, Fruit Cake and Ube Cake. The best part is these cakes are at such budget-friendly price points.

Not only does the in-house catering service provide mouth-watering and scrumptious food, it also provides an elevated and unique dining experience to its customers with its creative and lovely set-up.

Mom & Sons Café is located in Cabancalan, Mandaue City, Cebu. The café solely takes reservations and orders through its social media pages.
