PCG Auxiliary member nabbed for selling unlicensed gun

A MEMBER of the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary (PCGA) was arrested in an entrapment for selling an unlicensed high-powered firearm in Zamboanga City, the police reported Friday, October 14, 2022.

Police Colonel Alexander Lorenzo, Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) director, identified the arrested suspect as Sammy Mohammad, 46, an auxiliary of the PCG sub-station in Sangali village, Zamboanga City.

Lorenzo said that Mohammad was arrested in an entrapment operation around 9:57 p.m. Wednesday, October 12, at a motel in Canelar village, this city.

He said seized from Mohammad were a dismantled M-14 rifle, a rifle scope, two magazines with 39 rounds of ammunition, a magazine pouch, and 99 pieces of P1,000 counterfeit bills used as boodle money topped with one genuine P1,000 bill as marked money.

Lorenzo said Mohammad was detained at the headquarters of ZCPO’s Station 11 while charges will be filed against him for violation of Republic Act 10591, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act. (SunStar Zamboanga)
