ABOUT 6.37 tons of spaghetti wires dangling in various areas of Bacolod City were removed by the Bacolod Task Force Spaghetti Wires from October 4 to 12, 2022.

The Bacolod Task Force Spaghetti Wires along with the Bacolod City Traffic Authority the Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco), the city’s Department of Public Services and of various telecommunication (telco) firms removed the spaghetti wires along Hilado Street, Burgos Road, Narra Street and BS Aquino Drive.

Councilor Al Victor Espino, chairperson of the City Council committee on information and communication technology, said Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez promises to address the dangling spaghetti wires along roads.

He said the task force will intensify its clearing operation in various streets.

“We need to get rid of these wires especially in the highways and secondary roads,” he said, saying that some of these are no longer functional.

Espino assured that the clearing operations of the dangling wires will be implemented in the entire city and not in selected areas only.

Benitez earlier issued Executive Order No. 003 creating a Task Force on Spaghetti Wires to remove, clear and recognize entangled and messy wires located in identified locations and public places that poses danger to the general public.

The mayor said that aside from being an eyesore, these dangling wires can pose danger to both motorists and pedestrians.
