THE Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Northern Mindanao will be celebrating the 2022 National Science and Technology Week (NSTW) sa Amihanang Mindanao on October 25 to 30, 2022 at the Atrium, Limketkai Center in Cagayan de Oro City.
This year's six-year national science fair, which is anchored on the theme “Agham at Teknolohiya: Kabalikat sa Maunlad at Matatag na Kinabukasan,” is open to the public for free.
This event offers a combination of physical and virtual activities, encouraging attendees to explore the science and technological innovations in Northern Mindanao. It features exhibits, investment forums, technology demonstrations, awarding of stakeholders, and scientific meetings.
According to the DOST-Northern Mindanao, this year's celebration marks the return of physical exhibitions since the pandemic in 2020.
The DOST Science and Technology Academic and Research-Based Openly-Operated KioskS or Starbooks Quiz for High School Level is a newly added activity to this year's event. It will be participated in by the top 10 most active Starbooks sites in Northern Mindanao.
The highlight of the National Science and Technology Week is the exhibit designed for visitors to experience Smart Agriculture Technologies, Food Technologies, and Disaster Resilience Technologies. Patrons can also experience the virtual exhibits.
Moreover, a mobile planetarium will be set up for students, children, and the public.
The mobile planetarium experience includes a lecture on the size and content of the observed universe, its creation, history, and possible future, and the development of the solar system. There's also a virtual stargazing experience. This is free to all by a first-come first serve basis.
The science community in the country celebrates the National Science and Technology Week every year as mandated under Proclamation No. 780 of 2019 every last week of November to focus regional and national attention to the contributions of Science and Technology to national development.
The culmination of the National Science and Technology Week is set on November 23 to 27, 2022 at the World Trade Center, Pasay City.
