NEARLY 28,000 individuals were affected by the onslaught of Typhoon “Neneng” (Nesat) in extreme northern Luzon, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said on Monday, October 17, 2022.

In a situational report, the NDRRMC said a total of 27,914 persons or 7,519 families were affected by the weather disturbance in Ilocos, Cagayan Valley and Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).

It said 721 persons or 199 families stayed in evacuation centers.

The disaster bureau said over P400,000 worth of relief goods were distributed to the affected individuals.

A total of 25 houses and two infrastructures were damaged by the typhoon.

Neneng exited the Philippine area of responsibility on Sunday, October 16.

But the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that its trough and the convergence of its circulation with the southwesterly winds may still bring rains over several parts of Visayas and Mindanao.

It said occasional gusts with a strength reaching strong breeze to near gale are also expected in the western area of Luzon and the Visayas, as well as the eastern part of Central Luzon. (SunStar Philippines)
