AN official of the Philippine Statistics Authority Davao Region (PSA-Davao) said if you lose your transaction slip or forget your tracking number, it will be difficult for the agency or any other offices to validate if you truly own the ID.

“[There are] no other means to validate, you have to wait,” Baby Jean Alid, the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) Focal Person of PSA, said on October 17, 2022, during the Kapehan sa Dabaw.

PSA said once the individual loses their tracking number slip, they have to wait for the delivery of their national ID.

“‘Yong 29-digits, it's very unique po. ‘Yon po ang nagpapatunay na very secure yong ating data na hindi lang siya basta-bastang nakukuha so pag wala yon, maski sino sa amin, even yong sa back-end hindi po makukuha yong inyong information (The 29-digits is unique to each person. That is how we ensure that your data is secure. If you lose that, no one from our end could access your information),” Leah Magracia, Chief Statistical Operations and Coordination Division, PSA-Davao, said.

Meanwhile, PSA said that as of October 16, 2022, a total of 3.9 million Dabawenyos aged 5 years old and above have already registered for the PhilSys ID. Although they have already turned over the national ID distribution to the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost), PSA said PHLPost can’t locate some of the recipients.

“Marami-rami po talaga, so siguro at the time of registration, others are already dead, others siguro sa block, lot (There were a lot who registered. Some may have already died while there are others who could have written the wrong bloc or lot on their address),” Alid said.

She said that PHLPost has been doing its best to deliver the national ID.

Aside from problems with the addresses, there are also backend issues that are causing the delay in the production of the national ID.

Alid said they use several machines for the printing of the IDs. There are times when some of the machines experience technical issues like “clogging,” resulting in delayed production of some IDs.

She said those with similar names can also cause delays. There are also issues with the biometrics if these were not scanned properly.

However, Alid assures PSA will finish and distribute the national ID as soon as possible.

“‘Yon lang po ma-promise namin. Ginagawa naman po ni PSA ang lahat para po mapadali at mapabilis na po ‘yong pagre-release ng card po (That is the promise we made – to do everything we can to hasten the release of the cards),” Alid said. KSD
