NO burial activities are allowed in cemeteries, among other protocols, for the duration of the Undas season in Davao City from October 30 to November 3, 2022.

The guidelines, released on Monday, October 17, state that city-owned and operated or public cemeteries are prohibited to conduct burials, internment, and cremation during the said period of Undas except for immediate and direct burials.

In addition, overnight stay at public cemeteries is prohibited as operation hours will only be from 6:00 am to 8:00 pm but private cemeteries have the liberty to implement different operating hours.

Visitors are also subject to temperature checks and wearing face masks at all times is encouraged, as Davao City Ordinances and minimum public health standards on COVID-19 will be implemented. Medical tents and personnel will also be on standby to respond to emergencies.

“Dili ingon mandatory ang face mask kay optional na siya sa open spaces (pero) kung makita ninyo na dili ma-maintain ang social distancing (Face mask is not mandatory since it is already optional in open spaces but if you see that social distancing is not being practiced, then) you are obliged to wear your face mask,” Davao City Police Office (DCPO) spokesperson PMaj. Catherine Dela Rey said during a radio interview.

She added that private cemeteries are also encouraged to come up with their own health and safety protocols in coordination with the City Health Office.

In terms of traffic management, parking areas for cars and motorcycles will be designated by the City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) with one entrance and one exit policy in place.

Tricycles will also not be allowed inside cemeteries while ambulant vendors or peddlers with Special Permits from the City Mayor are only allowed to sell outside cemeteries.

Other security measures such as wearing jackets, backpacks, playing loud music or karaoke, gambling, alcoholic drinks, and sharp, pointed objects are also not allowed.

“Drone dili pud allowed, except katong sa mga naay security runs na gikan sa (Drones are also not allowed except those with permitted security runs with the) Public Safety and Security Command Center. Naa man gud mag picture-picture og aerial view, bawal na (Some people usually take aerial photos using drones, that is not allowed),” Dela Rey said.

Police and personnel from the DCPO will be deployed to enforce the said protocols and give assistance. At least 300 personnel will be deployed and Police Assistance Desks will be present in all cemeteries. ICM
