DRIVEN to serve as inspiration to others especially to his fellow Negrense, particularly in the field of Jiu Jitsu, Doctor Sunny “Pin” Diego has earned a title as a 3X PAN Americans Champion.
Diego won the back-to-back titles in 2021 and 2022 International Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) held on October 14-16, 2022 in Curtis Culwell Center in Garland, Texas, United States.
He is the first Negrense to ever win a PAN Americans Championship in history.
PAN Americans No Gi is one of the biggest No Gi Jiu Jitsu tournaments in North America.
He competed for the Featherweight, Master 3 Division bearing his Team’s name - the Alliance Jiu Jitsu Redlands.
Diego serves as the head instructor of Alliance Jiu Jitsu Redlands located in Southern California with about an hour and 30 minutes travel from San Diego and Los Angeles.
He wants to become an inspiration to the Pinoys, his fellow Negrenses including the generations to come.
He wants to bring honor to the home town of his great grandfather the founder and former mayor of town of Candoni, the late Santiago “Tagoy” Diego, Sr., who once served his founded hometown with all his heart and was known as a noble leader.
During his proclamation as the winner, he poses for a souvenir photo bannering a shirt with a photo of his great-grandfather on it, who served as his inspiration in life.
