AFTER a brief commotion, a man who got jealous with his cousin was stabbed by the latter in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental on Monday October 17.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Jesus Mesahon Jr., chief of San Carlos City Police Station, identified the fatality as Rovin Zapanta, 34, of the city’s Barangay 3.

Investigation showed that Zapanta was standing in an alley at San Juan Bomba in Barangay 6 when he saw his cousin, Christian Zapanta, 25, of Barangay 5.

A heated argument occurred between the two until the suspect stabbed the victim on his left armpit, the police said.

The victim died upon arrival at the San Carlos City District Hospital.

“Nangaman lang ni ang suspect ta during confrontation (the suspect only applied self-defense),” Mesahon said.

Mesahon said the victim allegedly got jealous of his cousin, but the latter denied that he’s in a relationship with the victim’s wife.

Homicide charges will be filed against the suspect, who is now detained at the lock-up cell of San Carlos City Police Station.*
