PRC sanctions board taker for hiring 'proxy'

THE Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, condemned the actions of a board exam taker for hiring a "proxy examinee" in one of its testing venues in Zamboanga Peninsula.

The PRC did not identify the examinee and the proxy but said that the latter was caught in the action of taking the October 2022 Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers.

"With the vigilant and prudent action taken by the PRC examination personnel in verifying the identity of the examinees, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), upon report, apprehended the proxy examinee during the conduct of the exam," the PRC said in a statement.

The commission said the impersonator was brought to the NBI-Pagaadian District Office for the "institution of applicable criminal charges."

"An administrative complaint for violation of the General Instructions to Examinees has already been filed motu proprio by the PRC against the examinee who secured the services of the apprehended proxy," the PRC added.

The PRC has reminded the public to avoid fraudulent practices, including having proxies to take and pass the licensing exam.

"The PRC exercises vigilance in ascertaining the identity of the persons taking the licensure examination and employs rigorous authentication procedures to deter the acts of proxy testing," the PRC said.

The agency added that violators who will be caught in the said act will be sanctioned administratively and criminally and will be penalized accordingly.
