Barmm distributes farm equipment to 38 coops

THE Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Agrarian Reform in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Mafar-Barmm) has distributed some P1.8 million worth of farm equipment across the autonomous region.

A total of 38 cooperatives and associations of farmers and fisherfolks from various towns of Maguindanao del Sur and Maguindanao del Norte, Lanao del Sur, Special Geographical Area (SGA) in North Cotabato, including Cotabato City received farm equipment.

Baharen Piang, officer-in-charge of agriculture operation of Mafar-Barmm, said the farm equipment that were distributed include six units of floating tillers, seven units of rice transplanters, seven units of hand tractors, six units of rice thresher, six units of corn shellers and six units of corn mill.

“This distribution of farm equipment aims to increase the level of mechanization and lessen the production losses among our farmers,” Piang said in a statement Wednesday, October 19.

The distribution of farm machinery intends to help farmers upgrade and ease their farming activities which corresponds to the primary purpose of the Mafar on uplifting the lives of client farmers.

Meanwhile, Mafar-Maguindanao Provincial Director Ronjamin Maulana reminded all the beneficiaries to become accountable for the project and be the Mafar’s partners in food sustainability.

“We will closely monitor this project because we want it to serve its purpose,” he stressed. (SunStar Zamboanga)
