FOR nine years, Watsons Philippines has partnered with Operation Smile, an international initiative, in helping children born with cleft deformities to seek out the medical aid that they need.
In actively participating in lending a helping hand to these children, Patrick Yu, the marketing manager of Watsons Philippines, shared that the involvement of the trusted self-care chain in the global initiative is its effort in expanding the brand’s purpose.
“We certainly want to do more for the community,” Yu stated.
“Our company adage is ‘Look good, feel great’ and we want to incorporate doing good by the people, as well. We transform lives one smile at a time.”
The partnership according to Yu is a holistic approach to the company’s goal of sustainability.
From Oct. 12 to 15, free cleft and palate operation was made available to children at the Cebu City Medical Center. Watsons Philippines take part in the mission by supplying pre-op and post-op kits to kids to aid them in having a successful and safe operation.
Belle Pesayco, corporate social responsibility manager of Watsons Philippines shared: “We’ve been partners with Operation Smile for a long time since our company’s vision aligns with the global initiative. As a health and beauty brand, we predominantly help with the cause to make these kids smile more. It’s not simply to make them beautiful because they are already beautiful. This cause that we are a part of helps transform these children’s lives.”
Approximately 40 Watsons store personnel, pharmacists and workers volunteered for the mission, according to April Inso, Watsons Philippines’ group operations manager for the Visayas region.
