THE Department of Tourism in Central Visayas (DOT 7) has kicked off its promotional drive to market adventure tourism in Cebu.
DOT 7 started this effort with hosting a familiarization tour for the Outdoor Adventure Trails and Farm-Fork-Fitness Cebu Circuit for media, vloggers/bloggers, and tour operators.
The familiarization tour, which took place from Oct. 20-23, brought the participants from both national and local media and content creators to the two flower farms in Barangay Sirao in Cebu City, Adlawon Vacation Farm in Barangay Adlaon, and EVO Nature Camp in Gaas, Balamban for the mountain adventure leg.
The island-hopping leg of the tour, meanwhile, involved paddling and swimming in Sulpa; and biking, bird watching, and bread making demo in Olango. Both islands are located east of Mactan.
This DOT-initiated tour is a test run of the Cebu leg of the agency’s outdoor adventure trail program.
Cebu Tour Operation Specialists president Alice Queblatin, who was one of the travel operators who joined the familiarization tour, expressed the industry’s commitment to market this product to tourists coming to Cebu especially with the easing of travel restrictions.
She said the tour operators here will support the initiatives of the DOT in further promoting tourism in Cebu and in attracting more adventure travelers to visit the island.
The familiarization tour covered the highland destinations along the Transcentral Highway in Cebu City and Balamban town; and the islands of Sulpa and Olango.
