REVENGE.

This is the motive being looked into by the Calatrava police why a “habal-habal” (motorcycle-for-hire) driver shot dead his colleague in the town at about 2 p.m. Sunday, October 23.

Calatrava town police chief Major Lidawan Lumayen identified the victim as Danilo Cuales, 52, of the town’s Barangay Patun-an.

Lumayen said the suspect identified by witnesses as Ronald Abadilla, 42, of the town’s Barangay Lalong, however, evaded arrest.

Investigation showed that Cuales was sitting inside a store at Barangay Ani-e with his live-in partner, Josephine Tinis, when the suspect arrived and shot him repeatedly using an unknown caliber of firearm and fled.

Cuales succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds upon arrival at the Calatrava Municipal Hospital, police records showed.

Lumayen said that Cuales maltreated Abadilla back in 2018 following a heated argument due to getting passengers.

Meanwhile, Expedito Alay, 47 of Barangay Prosperidad in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental, was injured when he was shot by unidentified suspect at about 7 p.m. also on Sunday.

Alay said he was walking along Sitio Agbulod on his way home when he met the unidentified suspect, armed with an unknown caliber of firearm, who shot him on his chest and back.

Alay is now confined at the San Carlos City Hospital while the motive for the shooting is still being investigated.*
