Guiao: 100 days

It has been an acceptable reality among Pilipino voters to assess and discern the performance of elected officials from the President down the line, vice president, senators congressman provincial governors, city and municipal mayors etc.

The purpose of which is to know whether they have, indeed performed satisfactorily during their 100 days in office.

On the part of the president his drumbeaters as expected raised a thumbs-up heralding a significant approval of his 100 days in office.

According to them, this is in field of foreign policies, successful in bringing to the country enormous investments as a result of his recent visit to the United States and other Asian countries.

Peace, unity and understanding have been restored among Pilipinos.

This character was forgotten when the Marcos were out in power, they added.

However, some opposition senators, partylist congressmen and human rights groups debunked such conclusion that all is well and rosy in President's inner circle.

To prove their points, they cited the sudden resignation of Atty. Vic Rodriquez former spokesperson of BBM during the last elections as Executive Secretary, the resignation of Ms. Trixie Cruz-Angeles as Press Secretary and Ombudsman and Commission of Audit Chairman Jose Calida. This unfortunate development impacted a disturbing set-back on Malacanang, they stated.

On the other side of the coin, I would like to narrate here what Mayor Malu has done in her 100 days in office.

Malasakit at Lugud desk financial assistance, hospital bill assistance, free lab test, free medicine, dialyser and eposino, regular check-up and cataract operation.

Municipal extension services for the three thickly populated barangays namely; Brgy. Sta. Lucia, Brgy. San Isidro and Brgy. Sta. Cruz. Clean and green program has been given a major rdiority.

Three new garbage trucks were purchased by the LGU of Magalang and out of order, dilapidated garbage trucks were repaired and now fully operational.

Thus making garbage collection very orderly and regular.

In the area of infrastructure many have been developed, construction of farm to market roads, building and repair of bridges in barangays San Agustin, desitting of water ways, asphalting and re-blocking

of main roads.

And many more which I will cite in my next contribution to the opinion section of Sunstar, Pampanga.
