USC, UV grads secure top spots in CPA board exam

TWO Cebu graduates made it to the Top 10 of the October 2022 Certified Public Accountant Licensure Examination (CPALE), the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announced on Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2022.

Nathaniel Jilson Butalid Uy of the University of San Carlos (USC) placed sixth in the exam with an average score of 88.33 percent.

University of the Visayas (UV)-Cebu City’s Butch Warren Molo Hojas placed 10th with a rating of 87.50 percent.

Snagging the top spot of the CPALE was Francis Matthew Nuñez Obligacion of the University of Santo Tomas (UST), who got an average score of 91 percent.

Also in the Top 10 were Kate Marie Uy Buencochillo of the University of Saint La Salle (second place, 90.67 percent); Emerson Macaraig Peralta of the University of the East-Manila (third; 89.5 percent); Alvielle Izza Bangi Catcha of the Ateneo de Davao University (fourth, 89.33 percent); Aldrin Dadis Rivero of Partido State University-Goa (fourth, 89.33 percent); and Marion Jasper Tapalla Tagle of UST (fifth; 88.67 percent).

Other top-notchers on the list were Lorenz De Lemios Nalica of the University of the Philippines (UP)-Diliman (sixth, 88.33 percent); Alec Maverick Cuenco Cruz of the Far Eastern University (FEU)-Manila (seventh, 88.17 percent); Angelica Dela Cruz Igna of UP-Diliman (seventh, 88.17 percent); Nikki Salva Calma of the University of the Assumption (eighth, 88 percent); Keith Daniel Ang Dee of UP-Diliman (eighth, 88 percent); Cedrick John Santos Tayson of FEU-Manila (eighth, 88 percent); Loudette Remirose Catris Tejada of UP-Diliman (eighth, 88 percent); and Anthony Marc Sicat Alfonso of the Angeles University Foundation (ninth, 87.67 percent).

The PRC said out of 6,665 who took the CPA board, only 1,722 examinees passed the exam or a passing rate of 25.84 percent.

The CPALE was given by the Board of Accountancy in Manila, Baguio, Butuan, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Koronadal, Legazpi, Lucena, Pagadian, Pampanga, Rosales, Tacloban, Tuguegarao and Zamboanga.
