‘Gun runner’ nabbed; companion yields ‘shabu’ in Kabankalan

AN ALLEGED gun runner was arrested in a buy-bust operation at his residence along with his companion, who allegedly possessing sachet of suspected shabu at about 6 a.m. yesterday in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.

Kabankalan City police chief, Lt. Colonel Alvimar Flores told SunStar Bacolod that this was already the third time that Ivan Lazarito, 36, of Purok Dondonay in the city’s Barangay Tapi was arrested.

Flores noted that Lazarito was also apprehended before for illegal possession of firearms and homicide.

He said that they arrested Lazarito after the latter transacted to illegally sell a .45 caliber pistol to a poseur buyer for P3,500.

A .45 caliber pistol with serial number and loaded with ten ammunition was recovered from Lazarito, police records showed.

Flores noted that the gun was already sent to the crime laboratory to examine its authenticity.

Meanwhile, 21 sachets of suspected shabu weighing about 22 grams and valued at P149,600 were recovered from Lazarito’s companion Zedric Bohol, 18, of Purok Tuburan also of Barangay Tapi.

Flores said that they also recovered an improvised plastic straw scope with traces of the banned substance and other illegal drug paraphernalia from Bohol.
