Classes in 8 barangays in Davao City suspended on Oct. 28 due to strong winds

EIGHT barangays in Davao City suspended their classes on Friday, October 28 due to the wind gusts caused by Tropical Storm.

In an advisory issued by the Davao City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), the barangays that declared the suspension are Marilog Proper, Salumay, Buda, Magsaysay, Bantol, Malamba, and Salaysay in Marilog District; and Megkawayan in Calinan District.

The suspension of classes was due to wind gusts.

As of 5 p.m., no significant damage had been reported.

CDRRMO said in its forecast that the city will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms caused by tropical storm.

Moderate to strong winds from the northwest to southwest with moderate to rough seas are also expected until the next day.

On Friday afternoon, several parts of the city experienced cloudy weather conditions with isolated light showering (Drizzling) with light to moderate to at times strong winds.

All river channels were monitored within safe and normal levels.

Paeng, international storm name Nalgae, was expected to make a landfall Friday afternoon or evening.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that as of 1 p.m. Friday, October 28, the center of Paeng was located at 155 kilometers east northeast of Borongan City, Eastern Samar or 245 kilometers east southeast of Catarman, Northern Samar. RGL
