The University of San Jose-Recoletos’ (USJ-R) Dramatics and Cultural Ensemble (Drac) and Amparito L. Lhuillier Education Foundation (Allef) alumni are working on a mega project that will involve their participation across the globe.

I am finishing my book called “A Musical Journey,” the evolution of the theater arts of the Colegio San Jose-Recoletos from the Little Theater in 1964 to the USJ-R Drac and Allef in 2000.

The book will be launched in July 2023. It highlights a musical show to be shown in USJ-R and other schools, at SM City Cebu and Ayala Center Cebu.

This is a big project and we are inviting as many alumni to contact us, or the current officers of the USJ-R Drac alumni led by president Bessie Villamor and other officers and members Giselle Almazan, Paulette Rivera, Adrian Diongzon, Noel Seno, Johar Lapasaran, Melchor Castellano, Mabel Canoy, Anna Fegi Brown, Sean Delfin, Jimmy Marquez, Jenny Piedad, Anafe Ardiente, Gérard Cabras, Francis Isidro, Sean Delfin, Marga Dalumpines and others.

Our many alumni residing in many parts of the globe may send this writer the list of musicales, plays, projects or any activity where they participated, with photos and videos, if available.

This project will be the legacy we offer to our alma mater, USJ-R.

The talents and craftsmanship of the Josenians had contributed to Cebu’s arts and culture. The USJ-R Drac performed in many parts of the United States (Utah, California, Hawaii, etc.), in Xiamen, Beijing, Singapore, Russia, etc.

The book will immortalize the enormous talents of the Josenians in singing, acting, dancing, scriptwriting, production, technical skills, among others.

We had touched the hearts of many groups in Cebu and performed in the major events of the Zonta Club of Cebu 1; the American Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Cenewof; Kapwa Ko, Mahal Ko; Eatof; the Province and City of Cebu; We Care; Philippines Foundation; Sisters of Mary; Department of Tourism; Eucharistic Congress; and Speechcom International, among others.

Our alumni are presently active in various entrepreneurial projects, owners of various schools and industries, entertainment, scholars abroad, raising their families here and across the globe, political leaders, and so many others. But, they have not abandoned their penchant for music and will manage to share their talents in many projects.

We look forward to gather as many alumni and our friends in celebrating music in Cebu.
