A VIDEO of a drug suspect who took off his clothes while being arrested in a buy-bust operation in front of his house in Silay City noontime on Sunday, October 29, went viral on social media.

Jezrel Diaz, 24, of Zone 5 in the city’s Barangay Lantad, was reportedly apprehended with 13 sachets of suspected shabu valued at more than P130,000 by the local police after he reportedly transacted with a poseur buyer.

But in the nine-minute video, Diaz was seeking his family’s help exclaiming that nothing was recovered from him.

To prove his claim, he took off all of his clothes and threw them away in the presence of the bystanders and the arresting officers.

It can also be seen in the video that he was being instructed by one of the apprehending officers to sit down.

Several minutes later, the supposed items recovered from him were already being inventoried.

“I needed to do that so that they (arresting policemen} could not plant evidence on me,” he said in a radio interview following his arrest.

But Silay City Police Station Chief, Lt. Col. Mark Anthony Darroca denied the allegations of a drug suspect from Barangay Lantad in the city that the evidence recovered from him were "planted."

Darroca stressed that the operation was legitimate, adding that in fact Diaz was already arrested for a similar offense before but was able to post bail.

"If you can see in the video, the arresting officers were calm, it was him (Diaz) who was shouting," he said, adding that he reviewed the video and did not see any planted evidence.

Darroca said the policemen have body cameras installed that could prove that no irregularities happened during the arrest.

He also warns those who are bashing the policemen on social media to stop or they will take legal actions against them.

Diaz is now detained at the lock-up cell of Silay City Police Station while facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
